Before going into Fear less public speaking you'll notice I've
broken up the word
fearless into two words fear-less, the reason being if we go right
to the root of what we
fear and learn to fear-less, then we are better equipped to deal
with whatever may be at
hand, whether it's making a speech or going after our dreams, which
up to this point, we
have let fear keep us from striving to achieve it. It may be the
fear of failure, it may be
the fear of public humiliation or whatever, was it Roosevelt who
said the only thing we
have to fear, is fear itself. He had a keen understanding that most
fears were largely,
rooted in our imagination, the French emperor Napoleon said that
Imagination was a
stronger force than will power, case in point, think about a habit
like smoking, we make
the resolve to stop smoking, and by the sheer force of our wills,
we stop for a week or
maybe two, then one night your watching a program on TV, and the
character your
watching is puffing on a cigarette, you try to resist, by will
power but as the character
draws on the cigarette, and blows out the smoke he or she makes it
look so good, that
your imagination starts to, bring up images when you were smoking,
and before you
know it, you have given in, and reached for a smoke, so much for
your resolve not to
smoke. We as human being are present in the community of self, the
intended ruler is the
will, but the will can be hijacked by the imagination, the
emotions, the flesh or whatever,
so it is our job to make sure the intended ruler of self is the
will power, by doing this you
will be in the position to manage your thoughts, thus managing your
fears.
